Holiday Pinning

Lately I’ve been trying to get my Pins in order & organize my boards (my recipe boards are a mess!).  I have been LOVING the holiday images posted recently.  The food, home décor, Christmas trees, & winter wonderlands have all brought out the magical season’s joy inside of me.  Here are a few of my recent favorites:

What I’m Pinning

I am still sorting out my outfit inspiration boards and getting organized with some new boards (beauty & spiritual inspiration), but the picture organization has refreshed my memory on some of the outfits I liked last year.  I believe looking at them again has been a great thing!  Once I get all of my clothing boards revamped I will tackle food boards (yikes!).  Here are some of my most recent pins:

Weekly Pinspiration & Story Time

My time on Pinterest this week has been a little different.  It was a long week, so I went in search of some giggles before bed instead of home styling or outfit inspiration.  One of my favorite things to see on the Humor page:  someecards!  (Link to their official website)

I grabbed a few that struck my fancy in hopes to share some smiles.  They each sound like something I’ve said or thought before, so I can relate.

I love each of these, but oh Black Friday, how I abhor you.  I once went (years and years and years ago) to a few stores one Black Friday morning with my then boyfriend’s mother.  I used to be adventurous.  Anywho, we went to WalMart so that I could buy him a large television.  Now, mind you, this was back when large televisions were…. large.  They were gigantic, box shaped, impossibly awkward and heavy.  I am 5’3 and not what you would consider daunting.  I wrangled my way into the massive, fighting crowd and managed to push out a large box containing a relatively well priced 32″ TV.  My shopping partner exclaimed that she would go find us a cart so that we could get the TV to the front of the store without throwing a body part out of alignment.  I was half asleep, half wanting to rest, and half wanting to stake my claim so I climbed up on the magnificent box and sat cross legged while anticipating her return.  That’s when I felt it.  It felt almost as if the box were being slid out from under me.  Then I felt a shove to the back.  Again, the box slid another inch.  What on earth?  Someone tried to steal the television I was sitting on literally out from under me.  I was shocked (rightfully so, how rude!) and sleepy.  When I was a teenager and young adult, let’s just say I wasn’t the happiest rooster on the farm before noon.  I turned around baring my teeth, growling, and asked the rude man, “Just what do you think you’re doing?!”  I must’ve been believable or my ill sleepy nature did the trick because he scurried away over to someone else and tried to take their TV from them.  It was my fault for agreeing to get up so early and head out for a shopping trip, and it was my complete naivety to believe that it would be a civilized event.  I thought there would be lines, happy shoppers, manners, and we would all go home holding hands and swinging our arms in delightful triumph over getting a great deal on Christmas presents.  Humph.  I have never seen such terrible acts of humanity, other than in the stands at little league baseball games in the south.  It was appalling and I have sworn off Black Friday escapades since that day.  I would rather spend my time online shopping with a cup of coffee in my hand, in my pajamas, and the peace and quiet my couch have to offer.  More power to the folks that enjoy a good Black Friday outing, but I am not one of those people.  ☺

I hope you’re having a great week!

Wednesday Pinspiration

Greetings from perpetually partly-cloudy Richmond, Virginia!  I started my hump day off by taking a trip over to the lake at Byrd Park after grabbing a coffee.

I wanted to see the blossoming trees up close and personal.  It was well worth it; the petals gathered like snowflakes on the ground.  Of course I ended my day with some Pinterest to get inspirational juices flowing and my furniture moving reflexes twitching.  This week I’ve had an extra large sweet tooth and I’ve been looking for ways to “spring up” my apartment.  I thought I would share with you some of my recent pins in these areas.

My favorite dessert OF ALL TIME would be a tie between tiramisu and cannoli.  You’d think I was Italian, alas, you’d be wrong.  I’d love to be able to make these desserts at home and seeing a homemade cannoli recipe made me want to try it out.  Seeing as I also have an overwhelming love for sprinkles, I make sure to have them in my pantry as well as my Pinterest boards.  Lastly, who can resist an espresso float for such an easy, quick dessert or a rich, chocolate cake with cinnamon to go with your morning mug of Joe?  Did I tell you how much I love Pinterest?

I love seeing pops of color around a house.  I am a lover of white paint when it comes to home decoration and design.  Having that solid, airy base makes it so easy to add in splashes of bright colors with the changing seasons and holidays and maintains a wonderful contrast.  I love in the first photo, however, that the base color is a dark charcoal and color is still used in that same fashion.  The contrast is just as brilliant!  I’ve also been seeing a lot of throw pillows used to add in textures, patterns, and bold colors while staying non-committal in the furniture or large, expensive purchase area.  Changing a throw pillow or cover is much easier than changing a couch, amen?  Amen.  Let’s also pay homage to the trend of bright barstools.  These mint beauties shown above make me want to utilize the bar area in my tiny apartment.  Another fine way to add in small fireworks of eye candy is to pick up some fresh flowers at your local market or grocer.  Fresh blooms also lift your mood.  That’s a win win.

Now go click away and get some Wednesday Pinspiration of your very own!  The options are vast!
